Fayetteville man dies after being shot during domestic incident, suspect remains in custody

Fayetteville, N.C.  – A man died after being shot at a residence on Harveydale Drive, and Fayetteville police said the shooting followed a domestic incident involving the victim and suspect.

The Fayetteville Police Department said officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Harveydale Drive around 9:37 a.m. following a report of a shooting with a victim.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect and victim were involved in a domestic incident before the shooting. Police said the suspect remained at the scene and was taken into police custody.

Investigators said the suspect and victim knew each other and there was no threat to the public.

The investigation remained ongoing, and police said additional information would be released as it became available.
