Fayetteville motorcyclist dies after crashing into FAST bus while changing lanes

Fayetteville, N.C. – A 60-year-old Fayetteville man died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) bus on Cedar Creek Road.

The Fayetteville Police Department said officers responded to the two-vehicle collision near Troy Drive at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Sept. 5.

According to the preliminary investigation, the FAST bus had stopped to unload passengers when the motorcyclist attempted to change lanes and pass the bus. During the maneuver, the motorcycle struck the rear of the bus.

The motorcyclist was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following the crash, where he later died from his injuries.

Police identified the motorcyclist as John Woods, a 60-year-old white male from Fayetteville. His next of kin was notified.

The Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the collision. Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
